Day 1, August 22, 2010: Welcome to C/Korea!

After nearly a 13 hour flight, sleep deprivation and excitement, I made it! Let's just hope I can make it to Daegu now with my little Korean speaking abilities, lol.

With a lot of help from a friend and his parents, my first taste of genuine Korean hospitality, I was able to navigate thru Seoul airport and make it to Daegu.

And from Sharon's recommendation, my first meal was nyangmyeon (cold noodle) to ward off the hot & humid day.

Lo and behold, I got to try Sharon's other food recommendation on my first night: ttokboki/dokbokki. Spicy but YUMMY! I sought it out for the remainder of my stay because it was SO good. Unfortunately, even though it was everywhere, this was the only time I got to eat it =(

and for a little more culinary adventure, my friend, Adam, thought he'd introduce me to pig intestine! Little did he know, I'm Filipino, we're all about the pork & the insides too. Tasted just like lechon without the vinegar and the garlic =) The culinary adventure and my travels thru Korea have just begun!

Arthur Verocai in LA

Having Arthur Verocai in LA is one of the reasons why I LOVE living in LA. We are blessed with so MANY musicians throughout the world that come to our city and bless us with their talent. Arthur Verocai is one of them. A memorable night in musical history. Wherever I travel, there is always a piece of that country that will remain with me and Brasil is one that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Fela on Broadway & Jump N' Funk is back!

I LOVE Rich Medina's sets and I LOVE Fela Kuti. If you're ever in NY, this is a must see musical on Broadway. It's amazing that Fela's life was able to be captured so greatly on Broadway. Rich Medina in LA is always a blessing to us Angelinos =)

Musical Theater: Without You (from the musical "Rent")

I'm taking vocal and acting classes right now. I'm finally trying to work towards and prepare myself for pursuing my dreams and life-long passion of doing musical theater. We have to pick a song to present in class this Saturday so based on my teacher's suggestions on 2 musicals to choose from ("The King and I" and "Rent"), this is the song I chose to learn and present.

On my walk home, I found a scene that naturally spoke of Miami's South Beach neighborhood.

Les recommended that we try the mofongo at this place & it was right by my brother's apartment!
