A photographic Journey thru Miami for Memorial Day weekend: Day 2, May 30, 2010 - Exploring South Beach

Finally found something healthy to eat the next day. Last meal with Les & Oscar before they head back to D.C.

A virgin mojito. This wasn't the name for it but that's what it was pretty much, yummy y fresca (and fresh!)

An outdoor row of shops and restaurants but for some reason, this was my mom's favorite place.

Welcome to South Beach!

They're everywhere.

A piece of Europe in Miami.

On my walk home, I found a scene that naturally spoke of Miami's South Beach neighborhood.

Les recommended that we try the mofongo at this place & it was right by my brother's apartment!
Mofongo Fridays & Saturdays
Every Friday and Saturday Jimmy’z Kitchen serves
the best and only Mofongo in South Beach. Mofongo is
A traditional Puerto Rican dish made from fried green plantains mashed together with fresh garlic, olive oil, and pork rinds. You have to try Jimmy'z Kitchen's Mofongo made with chicken or shrimp in a “criollo style sauce”.

Mom ordered the pork mofongo...

and I ordered the shrimp mofongo.

Night view of Miami Bay from my brother's balcony.

A photographic Journey thru Miami for Memorial Day weekend: Day 1, May 29, 2010 - Welcome to Miami/Bienvenido a Miami =)

Arrived safely in Miami. Mom wanted to show me this marketplace with tourist booths but the most interesting thing that I saw there was this tree. So this is my first picture in Miami =)

Riding the Miami bus

From South Beach to North Beach...

...look what we found!

Stand up paddle surfing. I've never seen it until now. Never knew it existed. Just thought it was funny, lol.

Les & her husband, Oscar (being dramatic). Guess who wears the pants? ;) Reunited in Miami from D.C. & Cali!

Oscar, Les's husband, being dramatic, again! Lol =P

We had to have our authentic comida cubana/Cuban food experience...

...all of the above, please ;P

Les & me, in Miami!
Zarzuela de Mariscos/Spanish seafood stew: Les's & my shared order. It was SO worth it!

yellow rice & plantains

Fried fish with black beans and rice (Oscar's order)

A photographic Journey thru Philadelphia: Day 8, April 2, 2010 - My last full day

My last day in Philadelphia starts with "Saad's Halal Restaurant" (one of Emiko's favorite restaurants in Philly)...

lunch with Jaamal & ginger beer from Bermuda (never seen this before, interesting!)

Chicken Shish Tawook Sandwich (the best ever!)

Playing with foam swords in Clark Park, Harry Potter style &...

...hula hooping, on a Sunday afternoon =)

B-boy Jamaal Benjamin

Lovella Calica, mestiza pinay poet reigning from Philly. Warrior Writers Director & active leader in Iraq Veterans Against the War.

La Colombe, Emiko's favorite coffee shop in Downtown Philly. Yes, the coffee was yummy!

Rittenhouse Square Park in the springtime =)

A glimpse into Asian Arts Initiative and a show including Kristina Wong!

Last night out with Jamaal...this is how it began, lol.
Looks like a scene straight outta Batman, doesn't it? Philadelphia City Hall, so gothic.

Yes, this store/business, one of my favorites, originated in Philadelphia.

According to Jamaal, this is the best night view in Philly.

I'll be back =)
